Privacy Policy

App: CloseFlight: Flight Itinerary (Android)  •  Effective date: 16 July 2026

This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and your choices. We designed CloseFlight to collect as little data as possible.

1. Information We Collect

• Details you type to create an itinerary: passenger name(s), and an optional email address. These are used only to produce your PDF and stay on your device.
• Flight search details: departure airport, destination airport, travel date, and number of passengers. These are sent to our own server (closeflight.com) so we can return real flight schedules and prices.
• Standard technical data: like any internet request, your device's IP address is processed by our server to deliver the response. We do not use it to identify you.

2. Advertising (app version 1.2.0 and later)

CloseFlight is free to use. Starting with app version 1.2.0, the app shows a small banner ad at the bottom of the search screen, served by Google AdMob. Earlier versions (1.1.0 and below) contain no ads at all.

• To serve these ads, Google may collect and process your Google Advertising ID, coarse device information (such as device model, operating-system version and country), IP address, and your interactions with the ad.
• Google uses this data to deliver and measure ads and to limit how often the same ad is repeated, and may use it to personalize ads where permitted.
• Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
• You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, at any time from Settings → Google → Ads on your device.
• We never send the details you type — passenger names, your email address, or your itinerary — to Google or to any advertiser.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• No account or login is required — we do not create user profiles.
• No analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No payment card details, no passport or government ID numbers.
• No precise location (GPS).
• We do not sell your personal information.

4. How We Use Information

• To generate your flight itinerary PDF, locally on your device.
• To retrieve real flight schedules and prices for the route and date you search.

5. Third Parties & Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Limited processing happens through:

• Google AdMob (app version 1.2.0 and later): receives the advertising and device data described in section 2 in order to serve the banner ad. It never receives the itinerary details you type. See section 2 for your opt-out choices.
• CloseFlight server (closeflight.com): receives your search details and queries flight-data providers (such as Amadeus, Duffel, or TravelPayouts) on our behalf. Provider API keys stay on our server and are never shipped inside the app.
• Airline logo images: most airline logos are bundled inside the app. In rare cases a missing logo image may be loaded from images.kiwi.com. Only the airline code is requested — no personal data.

6. Data Storage & Retention

• The names, optional email, and generated PDFs you create are stored only on your device.
• Flight search results (route, date, schedules) may be cached on our server temporarily to make repeat searches faster. This cache holds flight information, not personal identity.

7. Deleting Your Data

Because itinerary data is stored locally, you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's data in Android Settings → Apps → CloseFlight → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.

8. Children

CloseFlight is intended for users aged 13 and older (16+ in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children below these ages.

9. Security

Communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS (encrypted). Sensitive provider credentials are kept server-side and are never included in the app.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest version.
